It’s February and love is in the air! In a month that’s tailor made for true romance, what better way for hearts to grow than to engage the mind with your special someone? We have a big crush on these out-of-the-ordinary date ideas and we think you’ll fall for them too, so grab your sweetheart by the hand and check out these 6 Mindful Dates! It just might be a match!

Volunteer: While you’re taking the time to fall in love, why not share the love with some do-good feel-good activities? Volunteering together is a great way to spend quality time together and that passion for helping others can surely help intensify the passion in your relationship! Plus giving back to those in need is always rewarding and good for the soul! Here are few opportunities that should be easy to find in your community: animal shelters, beach cleanups, soup kitchens, youth mentorship, charity fun runs, Meals on Wheels; the options are limitless!

Learn a new skill: There might not be a better way to bond with your other half while applying your mind than by learning a new skill together! Try taking a cooking class and share a plate of a delicious meal that you made together. Sign up for some swing or salsa dancing and instantly sweep each other off your feet. Learn a new language together so you can both apply it on your next international adventure! You can put a real emphasis on what it really means to share special experiences!

Acro Yoga – This engaging discipline of yoga might really help build a deeper mental and physical connection between you and significant other! Not only is it thrilling and intimate, but it can also open up communication and trust with one. PLUS, finding fun in fitness with your partner is always an indicator for a great date night!

Staycationing – Be a tourist in your own town! You’ll both be surprised at how fun it is to recreate the thrill of a far-off jaunt (and the romance it sparks) by hitting all the most popular tourist traps in your city! Hop on a bus tour and check out how non-locals perceive your town. Swing by the most overrated local eatery and share a plate of that ‘world famous’ Mac n cheese featured on that Food Network show that one time last decade. Don’t forget to grab matching tacky souvenirs to commemorate your trip!

Bike Ride: Get the wheels spinning in your love life with a casual cruise around town! It’s always nice to get outside in the fresh air and take in some beautiful scenery with your significant other! Bonus points for tandem bikes! 😉

Hike: Couples hikes are classic but often overlooked opportunities to get some alone time with your love! Get away from daily distractions and explore together, you’ll be strengthening your connection as well as your quads! Be sure to pack some Chia Squeeze to share with your main squeeze!

Good luck lovers! Remember to send us a postcard from your honeymoon! 😉

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, we often lose focus of what’s most important in our lives – ourselves! This weekend, we encourage you to find the time to say, “I love ME!” with some indulgent self-love. Here’s 5 simple ways to create some well-deserved me time.

1. Make Your Own Bath Bomb and Use It

What better way to sit back and relax than from the comfort of your own bathtub?  Buy yourself some flowers, submerge, and soak in this bath bomb. DIY inspiration from A Pumpkin & A Princess.

2. Get a Mani/Pedi

Grab a friend and get out of the house or bring the nail party to your place! Either way, this simple nail design trick from The Beauty Department will be sure to keep those hands and feet in the festive spirit.

3. Take a Yoga Class

Clear your mind, ground yourself in the moment and, most importantly, sweat it out! Try a new yoga studio around your area or explore a new pose you’ve always been wanting to try. Your body will thank you for re-centering it back to balance.

4. Snuggle Up and Read a Book

Curl up in your favorite spot in the house, make a cup of tea, and light a candle. Be a bookworm for a day, giving yourself an hour or even an entire evening to invest yourself in the moment, without any distractions.

5. Go For a Walk

Get outside for a breath of fresh air! Explore a new hiking trail or take your furry friend to the park. Spend time doing what feels good for you physically and mentally by checking back in with yourself while exploring what the beautiful outdoors has to offer.

Ingredients:

  • 6 Tbsp Mamma Chia organic chia seeds
  • 2 cups organic non-dairy milk
  • 6 large squares organic dark chocolate (at least 60% cacao)
  • ½ cup fresh organic raspberries + 6 to decorate

Directions:

  1. Place raspberries and 1 cup of non-dairy milk in blender and puree until smooth. Pour the mixture into a glass jar and add 3 Tbsp. of Mamma Chia organic chia seeds. Stir well with a spoon, or if your jar has a lid, shake well until all of the seeds are evenly covered  in the raspberry liquid. Cover with a tight lid and and place in the refrigerator.
  2. Place 4 chocolate squares into a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second increments, stirring in between, until chocolate is fully melted. If a microwave isn’t available, melt the chocolate over low heat on the stove. Be sure to place chocolate in a heatproof bowl that fits snugly over a pot of barely simmering water (or put the bowl directly in a wide, shallow skillet of barely simmering water). Stir occasionally until the chocolate is melted and smooth; remove it from the heat. Add 1 cup of non-dairy milk and whisk until combined.
  3. Once the chocolate mixture is cool, pour it into a glass jar and add 3 Tbsp. of chia seeds. Stir well with a spoon, or if your jar has a lid, shake well until all of the seeds are evenly covered in the chocolate liquid.
  4. Keep the raspberry and chocolate chia seed mixtures in the fridge overnight for at least 4 hours.
  5. Layer the chocolate and raspberry chia pudding into 2 small dessert glasses.
  6. Chop the remaining 2 squares of dark chocolate and use to decorate the chia pudding. Top with 2-3 fresh raspberries and enjoy!
