Inside Look: Chia Vitality Bar - Peanut Butter & Sea Salt
Have you tried our NEW Chia Vitality Bar with only 4g of sugar? Each Organic Chia Vitality Bar delivers 1000mg of Omega-3s, protein, and fiber along with a subtle 4 grams of sugar, making it the perfect bar to power your soul’s purpose. In the infographic below, we break down the ingredients of our Peanut Butter & Sea Salt flavor, blended with creamy peanut butter with just the right amount of savory sea salt to create a tasty, anytime snack! Enjoy!
Looking for some more Chia Vitality Bar information? Look no further than our Chia Vitality Bar Infographic:
- 1 handful = 20% of our daily protein
- Grab a scoop of tasty almonds! Just 1/4 cup provides 11% of your daily fiber.
- How seed-sational! Almonds are not considered a nut but are actually a part of the seed family; technically making them relatives to chia seeds.
- 1 acre if peanuts can make 30,000 peanut butter sandwiches. That’s nutty!
- Did you know that peanuts are actually a legume? They’re related to beans and lentils making them another great source of plant-based protein.
- Peanut Butter
- Pile on that peanut butter! With just 2 tbsp. you’ll consume 8 tasty grams of protein.
- Did someone say peanut butter chia time? About 90% of American households enjoy peanut butter, which pairs deliciously with homemade chia jam!
- Hey there peanut butter lover! Did you know Californain’s consume the most peanut butter over other states!
- Quinoa has 4x more iron than brown rice and 2x more dietary fiber than white rice.
- Get chi-atta here! Quinoa is not actually a grain. It’s a seed related to beets and spinach.
- Sorghum (Sawr-guh m)
- Hosting a movie night? Kick back and pop some sorghum. It’s similar to regular popcorn, but smaller in size.
- Sorghum? It’s a gluten-free grain that is a popular ingredient in many snack foods.
- While 49% of sorghum worldwide is consumed, the remaining 51% has other uses like fuel, industry, and livestock feed.
- Organic Agave
- Move over honey! Agave is vegan-friendly & a great substitute in baking recipes.
- Agave is a low glycemic plant meaning that the carbohydrates won’t cause an unhealthy spike in blood sugar. You’ll also avoid the “sugar rush” side effects caused by other sweeteners.
- Aztecs not only used agave for nourishment, but also incorporated it in ancient healing remedies.
- Chia Seeds
- In Aztec days, this “superfood” was so super that it was often used as currency.
- Stay hydrated and fueled. Chia seeds can absorb more than 12 times their weight in water, making them popular for endurance activities.
- Sea Salt
- Larger crystals and a saltier taste help you reduce your sodium intake.
- Essential for maintaining a balance of electrolytes in your body, sea salt contains approximately 80 elements and minerals.
- Pure sea salt retains all the essential elements from the sea including magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, and iodine.

Congratulations to Sarah Camiel!
On her iPod: Lately, I’ve been really into the Stevie Wonder Pandora station. It’s amazing and filled with greats like Aretha, Earth, Wind and Fire, and the Jackson 5. Other bands that I’ve been playing on repeat for the last year are Mumford and Sons, The Other Lives, Of Monsters and Men, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., and the Shins. Basically, a bunch of brooding indie rock.
Favorite Quote: “Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible.” – Frank Zappa. This is certainly not my favorite quote of all time, but the most thought-provoking quote I’ve heard in the last few weeks.
Favorite Animal: Well, I could try to come up with something clever and exotic, or I could just be real and boring and admit that I am obsessed with dogs. I have two: a chocolate lab/hound mix named Vader, and a Boston/Boxer mix named Dexter. They are by far my favorite animals.
Favorite Mamma Chia Flavor: Definitely Coconut Mango. That stuff is unstoppable, and makes me feel like I’m on a tropical island.
Bio: I fell in love with Bellingham (WA) when I moved here eight years ago, and am still so happy to call it home. I am back in school once again studying to be a Veterinary Technician and afterwards possibly Vet School, but it’s been a long road trying to figure out what I “want to be when I grow up.” I’ve been a sea kayak guide, a snowboard/skate shop buyer, a burrito roller, a bartender, a scuba shop salesperson, worked at a nursery (the garden kind), a Humane Society volunteer, and a Mamma Chia Ambassador. I’ve driven across the country twice, lived in New Hampshire for awhile and went to Alaska for a couple summers, but always ended up back in the Pacific Northwest.
We are proud to announce Sarah Camiel as our May 2012 Ambassador of the Month! Sarah has done an outstanding job embodying our mission leading in the renaissance of Chia! She joyously shares the magic of Chia with everyone she meets and spends much of her free time volunteering at animal shelters, a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. She is a beautiful soul inside and out and we couldn’t be more grateful to have her as a part of the Mamma Chia family!
Congratulations Sarah, we are so happy to be honoring you!

Two stands in particular caught my attention: One was Mamma Chia, a new fruity drink that I’ve been seeing in all my local grocery stores. Chia seeds (yes, the same ones in the Chia Pet you bought in 1994) have taken off in popularity as a high-protein, fiber-rich supplement. They’re a great natural source of energy, and when placed in liquid the seeds expand and develop a slightly chewy texture (think of bubble tea). Read more…

The overachieving chia seed also provides a vegetarian source of protein, a plethora of antioxidants, and the bone-building trio of calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium. Though often under consumed, magnesium has been shown to confer protection against type 2 diabetes, possibly by improving insulin sensitivity. Well, chia is back, big time (the seeds, not the pets). And so is regular old food. We recently spent hours plodding the floors – along with 60,000 others – at the Natural Products Expo in Anaheim, Calif., the biggest health food trade show in the world. The overarching theme we saw: What’s old is new again. Read more…

Bio: I grew up in Short Hills, New Jersey and graduated from Millburn High School in 2002. I then attended Syracuse University for 2/ 1/2 years and transferred to Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey for a smaller atmosphere and graduated from there with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art. I’ve been playing music almost my entire life and still do to this day in my band, Catch Wild (www.catchwild.com). I am very close with my immediate and extended family. I love sports, especially the New York Rangers and New York Giants. I worked for Prometheus Springs Capsaicin Spiced Elixir for two years before starting work with Mamma Chia. OK, so not everybody loves a “chewy” drink. I was pretty skeptical myself before (while sweltering in the Fresh Ideas Marketplace tent) I tried a shot of Mamma Chia organic fruit drink with chia seeds. The Blackberry Hibiscus was surprisingly refreshing; plus it contains 2,500 mg ALA omega-3s per serving, plus fiber and calcium. And one bottle has less than half the natural sugar of typical fruit drinks. Read more…

Favorite Drink with Stuff Floating in It: Mamma Chia. Their CEO calls this “a party in your mouth,” and that it is. Chia seeds provide protein, fiber, calcium, and Omega-3, and they also made it surprisingly easy to go down. I liked most of the flavors I tried, although I have to say that were I to give it to my daughter, I would pick the “Cherry Lime.” Read more…
