Dairy-Free Strawberry & Chiamilk Panna Cotta!

Dairy-Free Strawberry & Chiamilk Panna Cotta!

For our upcoming Chiamilk Cookbook, our friend Amy Tong (@AmyTong_) shared her delicious take on one of Italy’s most popular and classic dessert dishes. Using Mamma Chia Organic Unsweetened Original Chiamilk and fresh organic strawberries, she created an absolutely salacious (and dairy-free) Strawberry & Chiamilk Panna Cotta!

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon unflavored vegatarian gelatin
2 1/4 cup Mamma Chia Organic Unsweetened Chiamilk, divided
1 pound fresh organic strawberries
6 tablespoons sugar (you can substitute with sugar-free sweetener)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Directions:

In a heat proof bowl, dissolve gelatin and 1/4 cup Chiamilk, set aside and let it rest for 5 minutes. Heat the gelatin mixture in the microwave for 30 seconds until gelatin is completely dissolved.  Let cool slightly.
In the blender, process strawberries, remaining 2 cup of Chiamilk, sugar, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and cooled gelatin mixture, until smooth. Pour mixture through a fine sieve into a large bowl, discard any solids/seeds.
Evenly distributed into molds or small serving cups.  Chill for at least 8 hours, or preferably overnight.
To unmold, dip bottom of the mold in a small bowl of hot water for 5 to 10 seconds, then invert panna cotta onto a dessert plate and remove the mold. Serve with macerated strawberries on top.
If using small dessert cups, simply spoon macerated strawberries on top before serving.
Ingredients for the Macerated Strawberry:

1/2 pound fresh strawberries, sliced
Juice from 1/2 a lemon
1 tablespoon of sugar (or sugar-free sweetener)

Directions to prepare the Macerated Strawberry:

In a medium bowl, gently toss strawberry slices with lemon juice and sugar.  Let the mixture steep in room temperature for 15 minutes before serving on top of the panna cotta.

Mummy Chia Upcycling Craft!

Mummy Chia Upcycling Craft!

Upcycling can be so fun, it’s spooky! ????  We’re loving these easy-to-make monstrous Mummy Chia party favors made from empty Chia Squeeze pouches! Check out our how-to guide below and get creative!

All you need is:
– Empty Chia Squeeze pouches
– Cheesecloth
– Sharpie or black marker
– Googly eyes
– Glue (we recommend Tessa Bunny’s Organic Non-Toxic School Glue)

Step 1) After enjoying your Chia Squeeze pouches, safely cut off the tops (right under the Mamma Chia logo works best) using scissors and clean the interior with soap and water.

Step 2) Coat the exterior of the pouch with glue and begin wrapping the cheesecloth around the pouch in good-ol mummy making fashion (there’s no wrong way). Once you get enough of a mummy look, cut and glue the end to the pouch to secure the wrap.

Step 3) Glue on the googly eyes and use the black marker or sharpie to give your mummy an expressive mouth. Happy? Concerned? Shocked? It’s up to you!

Steph 4) And that’s a wrap! Just load up with treats of your choice and share the fun!

We love to see how yours turn out! Tag us on Social Media with your creations using #TrickOrChia and @MammaChia!

October is Non-GMO Month!

October is Non-GMO Month!

October is Non-GMO month, which celebrates everyone’s right to choose whether or not to consume genetically modified foods. All of Mamma Chia’s products are Non-GMO Project Verified and Certified Organic, which reflects our commitment to building a better, more transparent food system!

We believe that by choosing to go non-GMO, you’re supporting an agricultural system that respects Mamma Earth’s biodiversity and helps provide a safe, healthy food supply for future generations! And remember, Certified Organic is always Non-GMO! ✅

In Celebration of Non-GMO Month: Together We Can Create the Future We Want

Harvest season is upon us! This Non-GMO Month, we celebrate kindness and community; coming together during times of hardship; and the necessity of caring for each other and our planet. This caring revolves around one of our most basic needs: food.

Communities grow around food. From our small local farms to folks delivering groceries to their neighbors in times of need, some of our strongest bonds are based on food. Many of us learned this year just how much we rely on our favorite brands at the grocery store. From producers to retail staff, everyone along the supply chain worked harder than ever to keep our community safe, healthy and nourished in an uncertain landscape.

GMOs were first introduced in the 1990s with a shocking lack of public awareness: The news that novel organisms were entering the food supply simply wasn’t shared with the people who would end up eating them. Thankfully, not everyone was in the dark: Natural foods stores, in particular, began looking for ways to answer customer concerns about GMOs. Two retailers led the charge: The Natural Grocery Company in Berkeley, California, and The Big Carrot Natural Food Market in Toronto, Ontario. Through their combined efforts to create a shared definition of GMOs and a labeling mechanism for non-GMO foods, the Non-GMO Project was born.

Today, new GMOs — created with emerging technologies — continue to enter the food supply. The transparency of the Non-GMO Project Verified label means that trust and simplicity can still guide the choices we make at the store. While the people at the Non-GMO Project continue their work to protect our genetic inheritance — tracking where our food comes from and how it is produced  — we are committed to bringing non-GMO choices to our customers. We wish a happy and healthy Non-GMO Month to you and your family.

Make sure to look for the Butterfly ????when shopping and remember, organic is ALWAYS non-GMO!
