5 Ways to Greenify Your Home this Earth Day!

With more time spent at home and in honor of Earth Day this month, we’ve been thinking a lot about all the wonderfully sustainable ways you can greenify your home!

Plant a Garden! 🌿🌻

Herbs, veggies, fruits – if you have the space of a small yard or balcony, you can start growing your own produce. You can learn more about balcony gardening HERE.

Be Eco-Wise While Reducing Your Energy Bill! 💡

It’s the little things – closing your blinds and curtains to help cool your home on sunny days, keeping windows closed on colder days to retain heat, shutting off lights (plus switching to energy-efficient bulbs) and unplugging unused appliances when you leave the room and only running the washer and dryer or dishwasher for full loads. It all adds up! We’re spending more time at home, so to compensate, it certainly helps to be cognizant of your energy use. With a little effort, you’ll see less of an impact on your energy bill and if we all do our part, Mamma Earth benefits!

Switch to All-Natural Cleaning Products ! 🧼

An impactful, everyday change you can make in your homes is to ditch harsh chemical cleaners and use all-natural cleaning products. DIY is a great option (check out some options HERE) and there are plenty of great, natural brands to help you create a healthy home, such as our friends at Branch Basics!

Purchase Certified Organic and Eco-Conscious products!🍴🌎

Opting for Certified Organic products has a major impact on the planet. Organic farming practices reduce pollution and soil erosion, increase soil fertility, conserve water, and use less energy. They are better for the environment because their production doesn’t demand the use of cheap, harmful chemicals. Supporting organic avoids a large environmental impact from the use of pesticides, which can be carried as runoff to watersheds when it rains, affecting the water quality in surrounding areas. All Mamma Chia products are USDA Certified Organic an Non-GMO Project Verified!

Reduce and Reuse! ♻️

We’ve all grown up knowing the importance of recycling, but you can make an even larger positive impact on  he environment by ensuring you reduce and reuse as much as you can! There are so many items we typically discard that can easily find new life and fulfill a second purpose around your home. Those coffee grounds, potato peelings, brown bananas and rotten peas are perfect compost for your garden. You can purchase an affordable compost bin or learn how to make your own HERE!
