Directions:

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add potatoes and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until tender (but still firm) and then drain.
  3. In a small saucepan heat butter and milk over low heat until butter is melted.
  4. Using a potato masher or electric beater, slowly blend milk mixture into potatoes until smooth and creamy.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste and top with freshly chopped chives and serve!

Surfing

It might seem a bit cliché, but surfing is synonymous with the summer – especially at Mamma Chia’s home base in Carlsbad, CA. No matter what your skill level, each summer day brings an opportunity for some wave-catching fun. If you’re just starting out, there’s surf lessons abound at almost every surfable beach up and down both the east and west coasts. If you’re an intermediate to advanced surfer, get out of your comfort zone and try riding a retro board or less common shape, such as a bonzer, mini simmons or asymmetrical design.

In a small mountain town surfing may seem an unlikely summer activity in the mountains, however; winter runoff keeps mountain lakes and reservoirs full and waiting to be used come summer. Whether you’re a boating fanatic who wakes up before dawn to make it to the lake, or someone who has never been on a boat before, wakesurfing is a sport for everyone! If you have a boat, you’re probably familiar with the ins and outs of wakesurfing and what you’ll need. If you’re just learning, make sure to bring a towel, a life jacket if you have one, and a good attitude. It may take a couple tries to stand up, but it’s worth the fun you’ll have riding the wave!

Caving

If you’re looking for a fun, out-of-the-box summer adventure, consider caving! Either by kayak or on foot. If renting a sea kayak, we recommend asking a local shop about the details. If you own a kayak (or SUP), make sure to do your research, especially when it comes to safety precautions and prerequisites. Group tours are always a good option as well. Whichever you choose, you have our word it’ll be an unforgettable experience!

The fun part about mountain caves is discovering the mysteries inside them. But caving in the mountains is a bit like geocaching, you’re going to have to hunt a little bit to find where the caves are hidden. When you do, make sure to be well equipped with a flashlight or headlamp, snacks, water, and an extra jacket. Some caves require a little more gear and knowledge than your own two legs and a flashlight for exploration. In that case, we suggest doing a little research or calling a shop in your area for more information.

When it comes to keeping hydrated on your caving adventure, you’ll want to plan ahead! Bonfire

There’s no better way to cap off a summer day than by gathering around a crackling bonfire with your friends and reveling about the day’s adventures. Locate the nearest beach that permits bonfires, or – better yet – snag a public fire pit early in the evening as they tend to fill up quick in the summer months! Remember to bring all the beach bonfire essentials: firewood, matches (or lighter), beach chairs, beach blankets and a cooler with ice. We highly recommend starter sticks, old newspaper and lighter fluid to help get the flame going and stay alive.

High up in the mountains, gather around a campfire with your friends and enjoy the smell of fresh pine as you stay warm in the crisp mountain air. While you take turns sharing campfire stories & making s’mores, you’ll wonder where time went as the flames start dying down after a few hours and there are no more marshmallows left to roast. In addition to firewood and matches, don’t forget to bring along a warm blanket, bug spray, camp chairs, and – of course – s’more supplies. Lastly, remember to always double check fire danger in your area.

Beat the Heat Summer Adventure Challenge

So, you’ve gone for a solid surf, marveled at some cool caves, and hosted the bonfire of the summer. Now you’re ready for our Beat the Heat Summer Adventure Challenge! First things first, a challenge like this calls for a nourishing breakfast like this Overnight Oats recipe. Yes, as the name implies, you’ll need to prep the night before using Mamma Chia Organic Wild Raspberry Chia Squeeze and Kodiak Cakes Power Oats. But, prepping ahead of time also means you can better “beat the heat” by getting an early start! Once you finish your breakfast, you’ll be ready to take on the challenge.

We’ve put our own spin on the classic bike-swim-run triathlon format, but you have the freedom to choose your intensity.

Leg One

Whether you find yourself on the coast or in the mountains, first plot your journey with a 6-12-mile bike ride to your favorite bay or mountain lake. You can choose to keep it casual with a brisk pedal on your beach cruiser, go all out on the road, or hit the trails on top your trusty mountain bike.

Leg Two

Once you arrive at your destination, get ready for a ¼ to ½ mile swim. If you want to use a wet suit, we suggest carrying it with you on the bike, or arranging with someone to have it ready for you before it’s time to take the plunge. Make sure to use landmarks for your swim entry and exit to track your distance.

Leg Three

You may be soaking wet, but it’s time for the final leg — a 1-3-mile run! Whether you choose to take on this leg from the sand, cement, or dirt, your legs will probably feel like you’re running through chia or syrup but keep your eyes on the prize—you’re almost done!

4 Recipes to Make Your 4th of July Sparkle! ✨

Fourth of July is right around the corner and we are leaping with joy for the festivities that are about to commence! There’s something about the good food and warm weather that makes our Souls sing! Looking back at childhood memories, we have to admit that food is half the fun! That said, we put together some healthy, chia-powered recipes for sharing that are not only delicious, but nutrient-packed too! Here are 4 fun and festive recipes to make your 4th of July sparkle with joy! 🇺🇸

Blissfully Patriotic Blueberry Pie [GLUTEN FREE]

This pie will take your 4th of July festivities to the next level! Sweet blueberries combine with our tasty Blackberry Bliss Chia Squeeze to make this a treat your guests will never forget (with half the guilt)!

Recipes to Make Your 4th of July Sparkle

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 2 ½ cups organic all-purpose gluten free flour
  • 2 Tbsp. organic sugar
  • 1 tsp. xanthan gum
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 12 Tbsp. organic cold butter or vegetable shortening
  • 2 organic eggs
  • 4 tsp. organic lemon juice or vinegar

For the filling:

  • 5 cups fresh organic blueberries
  • 1 Tbsp. freshly squeezed organic lemon juice
  • 1 Mamma Chia Organic Blackberry Bliss Chia Squeeze
  • 3 Tbsp. organic cornstarch
  • ½ cup organic coconut sugar + extra for sprinkling on top
  • ¼ tsp. organic cinnamon
  • 1 large organic egg, beaten with 1 Tbsp. water (for egg wash).
    • Vegan? Use organic coconut oil!

Preparation

If using store-bought dough (which is totally fine!) skip steps 1-7:

  1. Mix together flour, xanthan gum, salt and sugar.
  2. Cut the butter or shortening into small chunks and work them into the flour mixture until crumbly.
  3. Whisk the egg and lemon juice or vinegar together till very foamy. Mix into the flour/butter mixture until it all hold together, adding 1-3 additional tablespoons of cold water if necessary.
  4. Shape dough into a large ball and refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour (up to overnight).
  5. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and allow to rest at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before rolling.
  6. Cut mixture in half and roll into 2 balls (one for each crust or topping).
  7. With floured hands, roll 1 of the dough balls and place onto a sheet of floured parchment or wax paper.
  8. Lightly grease your 9” pie pan and place the bottom dough layer into the pan. Cover crust with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  9. Roll out the other ball (your top crust) into a circle approximately 1 inch larger in diameter than pie pan. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. NOTE: If making a lattice crust, roll into 1/8 inch thick rectangle (approx. 11 x 14 inches). Cut into 10 separate strips (about ¾ inch wide). Cover strips in plastic wrap and chill for about 30 minutes.
  10. Place one oven rack on the bottom and one in the middle. Preheat your over to 400 degrees F.
  11. In a large bowl, whisk together lemon juice and Blackberry Bliss Chia Squeeze, gradually sprinkling in cornstarch, until smooth. Stir in coconut sugar and cinnamon. Fold in blueberries to coat. Let sit for about 5 minutes.
  12. Take crust out of refrigerator (if you haven’t done so already) and pour blueberry mixture into prepared bottom crust.
  13. Brush the rim of the crust with egg wash or coconut oil.
  14. Place top crust on and crimp together edges with fingertips to seal the bottom and top crusts. Be sure to cut some slits for ventilation. If using a cookie cutter to create a star vents, do so right before placing your crust on top of your pie. NOTE: If dough seems soft and warm, cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for about 20-30 minutes.
  15. Brust crust with egg wash or coconut oil, sprinkle with coconut sugar and place pie on baking sheet on the bottom rack for 20 minutes.
  16. Reduce heat to 375 degrees F and transfer pie (while still on baking sheet) to center rack and continue baking for 30-40 minutes. If edges begin to brown, cover the edges with foil. If the entire top crust starts to brown too quickly, tent pie loosely with foil.
  17. Remove from oven and let cool to set and thicken. Serve with vanilla ice cream and enjoy!

Red, White, and Blue Chia Pudding (Serves 4)

Layer it up and get a spoonful of this quick treat! This festive snack is vegan friendly so all souls can enjoy during your Fourth of July celebration.

Recipes to Make Your 4th of July Sparkle

Ingredients

Red Layer

  • 1/3 cup Mamma Chia Organic Chia Seeds
  • 1/4 cup organic raspberries
  • 1/4 cup organic strawberries
  • 1 cup organic non-dairy milk (we used full-fat coconut milk in a can)
  • 1 Tbsp of organic sweetener of your choice: agave, maple syrup, honey, etc. (Optional)

White Layer

Blue Layer

Preparation

  1. Prepare each layer one at a time.
    1. Red Layer – Place raspberries, strawberries, dairy-free milk, and sweetener (optional) into a blender. Blend ingredients together until its smooth. Pour into a sealed container and add chia seeds. Stir the seeds with the liquid until completely mixed. Cover and place in refrigerator.
    2. White Layer – Mix dairy-free milk in a small bowl or container with chia seeds, agave, and vanilla extract. Cover and place in refrigerator.
    3. Blue Layer –In a blender combine dairy-free milk and blueberries, blending until smooth. Move liquid to a sealed container and add the remaining chia seeds to the mixture and stir. Cover and place in the refrigerator
  2. Let all 3 layers sit overnight allowing the chia seeds to fully expand and create a pudding-like consistency. NOTE: It often helps to mix the pudding again after the 1st hour being chilled.
  3. Take all 3 chia puddings out and begin to layer each color on top of one another one at a time in a clear glass or bowl.
  4. Feel free to garnish with extra berries leftover and enjoy!

Patriotic Pops (Makes 6 pops)

“Beet” the heat with these healthy pops that include our newest Chia Squeeze flavor, Cherry Beet, to add some tartness to everyone’s favorite frozen treat!

Recipes to Make Your 4th of July Sparkle

Ingredients

Red Layer

White Layer

  •  2 cups non-dairy yogurt (we used So-Delicious Vanilla flavored Coconut Milk yogurt)

Blue Layer

Extra supplies you’ll need:

  • 5 oz paper cups
  • Paper straws or wooden popsicle sticks

Preparation

  1. Red Layer – Blend one Cherry Beet Chia Squeeze with raspberries and strawberries until it reaches a purée consistency. Set aside 6 paper cups, these will be your Popsicle molds. Disperse the red layer equally into all 6 cups and immediately place in the freezer for 2 hours.
  2. White Layer – Once the red layer is frozen, remove molds from the freezer and add any non-dairy yogurt of your choice to the mold to create the middle white layer. When finished adding the second layer, gently add paper straws or Popsicle sticks.  If you decide to use paper straws, snip each straw in half so the stick won’t be too long when placed into the mold. Place pops back in to the freezer for 2 more hours.
  3. Blue Layer – Blend one Wild Raspberry Chia Squeeze and blueberries until ingredients are completely puréed. Remove pops one last time and add the final layer. Place pops back into the freezer and let it sit overnight.
  4. Remove pops when you’re ready to eat. Run the paper cups under warm running water, rotating the cup around for 30 seconds. Carefully twist and pull pop from mold and enjoy!

Red, White and Blue Chia Pudding Yogurt Parfait by Melissa P.

Ingredients:
 ▪ 1 Cup Chia Pudding:
        ▪ 1/4 Cup Mamma Chia Organic Black Chia Seeds
        ▪ 3/4 Cup Mamma Chia Organic Unsweetened Vanilla Chiamilk
        ▪ 1 Tbsp Cream of Coconut
        ▪ 1 Tsp Almond Extract
        • 1 Tsp Blue Spirulina
        • 1 Tsp Pink Dragonfruit Powder
▪ For Parfait Add:
        • Granola
        • Vanilla Greek Yogurt
        • Organic Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries & Blueberries
Preparation:
Begin by preparing both a red and blue Chia Pudding using the chia seeds, Chiamilk, cream of coconut, almond extract and either the blue spirulina or pink dragonfruit powder. Each 1/4 cup of chia seeds combined with the other ingredients and soaked in the refrigerator overnight will create 1 cup of colorful chia pudding!
Once your red and blue chia puddings are ready to go, combine in a cup by layering with your choice of granola, Greek Yogurt (we recommend vanilla) and an assortment of organic strawberries and raspberries for reds and organic blackberries and blueberries for blues!

Ingredients:

• 1/2 Mamma Chia Organic Green Magic Chia Squeeze Pouch

• 1/2 c frozen spinach

• 1 c frozen pineapple

There truly is a Chia Pudding for every occasion! This Green Chia Pudding featuring our NEW Organic Unsweetened Vanilla Chiamilk and Organic Chia Seeds will have you tasting a rainbow of delicious flavors!

Ingredients:

• Fresh spinach

• Medjool date (more or less for sweetness)

Organic Unsweetened Vanilla Chiamilk (or milk alternative of your choice)

Mamma Chia Organic Chia Seeds (3 tablespoons per 1 cup of liquid)

• Additional fruit for topping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Create some “Green Chiamilk” my mixing the Chiamilk, spinach, and dates
  2. Pour the “Green Chiamilk” into a bowl with the Chia Seeds and continue stirring every few minutes for 15 minutes
  3. Let sit in the fridge for at least 1 hour or overnight
  4. Just before serving, stir again, then top with fruit and enjoy!

 

Superfood Green Smoothie – By Olena

Make your first round of the day a hearty pint of Superfood Green Smoothie!

Ingredients:

• 2 cups cold water

• 2 handfuls spinach

• 1 kale leaf, medium

• 1/2 long English cucumber, sliced

• 1/2 any apple, chopped and not cored/seeded/peeled

• 2 tbsp Mamma Chia Organic Chia Seeds

•  Juice from 1/2 lemon

Directions:

In a powerful blender, combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. If using a regular blender it is best to add the ingredients in the order listed above and press “pulse” on and off to get the blending process started. Then hit “grate” and “liquify” after. Pour into a glass, top with additional Chia Seeds, and enjoy!

Pumpkin Spice Latte Chia Overnight Oats

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Pumpkin Purée
  • 2 Cups Nut Milk
  • 4 Tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Pumpkin Spice
  • 2 Shots Espresso or 1/3 Cup Extra Strong Coffee
  • 1/4 Tsp Sea Salt
  • 2 Cups Rolled Oats (Use gluten-free if desired)

Toppings (Optional)

  • Dollop of Yogurt (Greek or Dairy-Free)
  • Chopped Nuts of Choice (She used pecans here)
  • Extra Sprinkle of Pumpkin Spice
  • Nut Butter

Directions:

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree and nut milk until there are only a few pumpkin lumps left
  • Add in the chia seeds, pumpkin spice, espresso or coffee, and sea salt and continue to mix
  • Stir in rolled oats and mix to coat
  • Pour mixture into 1 large airtight container (or individual containers) and store in fridge overnight (at least 6 hours)
  • Top with toppings of choice and enjoy!

It’s that time of year everyone – National Chia Day is THIS weekend! Did you know that Chia Seeds are one of THE MOST nutrient-rich foods on the planet!? Not too familiar with Chia Seeds? Below are some amazing facts about this tiny, but mighty superfood.

What is Chia?

Chia seeds come from the desert plant Salvia hispanica, which is a flowering member of the mint family and is native to North, Central, and South America.  They have been enjoyed for thousands of years and can be traced all the way back to 3,000 B.C. where it was a staple of both Maya and Aztec diets. They believed one tablespoon of chia was capable of sustaining a warrior for 24 hours!

What are the health benefits of Chia?

  • Omega-3: They are extremely high in Omega-3, which is a polyunsaturated fat and is considered to be an essential fatty acid since it cannot be manufactured by the body. Studies have shown that Omega-3 fatty acids work to protect the heart by lowering blood pressure, bad cholesterol, and inflammation.
  • Dietary Fiber: Chia Seeds have both soluble and insoluble fiber, which can aid in digestion. The gelatinous texture that forms on the outside when the seeds are hydrated is the soluble fiber! Being rich in fiber content also helps people feel more full quicker and longer.
  • Complete Protein: Not only does it contain plant-based protein, but it also contains complete protein (aka whole protein)! Complete protein contains the desired proportion of all nine essential amino acid believed to be necessary for the dietary needs of humans.
  • Vitamins & Minerals: Chia seeds are also a source of calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium, and zinc!

  • Hydration: When chia seeds are placed in water, they can swell up to 12x their normal size! Due to the extra retained H2O, consuming hydrated chia seeds can help you stay hydrated for a longer period of time.
  • Prebiotic: Prebiotic foods are high in special types of fiber that help to support digestive health. They are believed to promote the increase of friendly bacteria in the gut, help with various digestive problems, improve metabolic health, and even boost your immune system!

What can I do with Chia Seeds?

Here is a quick and easy Chia Pudding recipe:

  • Ingredients: 1 cup liquid (almond milk, coconut milk, water, juice, etc.) + 3 Tbsp Chia Seeds + Optional 1 Tbsp sweeter (honey, maple syrup, agave, sugar, etc.).
  • Directions: Add all ingredients, mix well, store in refrigerator for 6-8 hours, top with fruit, and ENJOY!

Raspberry Chia Jam

Creating your own homemade jam has never been easier and more delicious! One of our favorite recipe mavens, Madison Suden, shows us the best way to whip up a delectable batch of flavorful Raspberry Chia Jam using Mamma Chia Organic Chia Seeds!

The options are endless on how you choose to enjoy your Raspberry Chia Jam. You can spice up your traditional PB&J sandwich, smooth it over your morning crepes, layer it in your parfait or add it to your pancake stack! There is one thing we can assure you, every meal is better with a spoonful of this fruity deliciousness!

Fun Fact: The gelling power of chia seeds will turn your mashed fruit into a delicious spreadable jam in a matter of minutes!

Ingredients:

3 tbsp. of Mamma Chia Organic Chia Seeds

1 1/2 cup of fresh raspberries

2 tsp maple syrup

2 tbsp. water

Directions:

Add the Raspberries, water and chia seeds to the pan and let cook for about 3-4 minutes over medium heat. Cook until the raspberries have melted down until its mostly liquid. Mash the raspberries with the back of your spatula – you can make it as smooth or lumpy as you like! Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the maple syrup. Let stand for 5-10 minutes or until thickened. The jam will continue to thicken, especially once refrigerated. Once the jam has gotten to your desired thickness, pour into a jar and it’s ready to go!

Mamma Chia Gingerbread Muffins

‘Tis the Season to fill your home with the sweet aroma of seasonal spices and pure magic of chia cheer with our delicious Mamma Chia Gingerbread Muffins! These moist, flavorful holiday creations are sure to induce a holly jolly spirit!

Ingredients

 Gingerbread Muffins

  • 2 tsp Mamma Chia organic Chia Seeds
  • 1/2 cup (1 small/medium) very ripe banana, mashed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • zest of half an orange (optional)
  • 1-1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp fine-grain sea salt
  • 1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk (or sub 2% dairy milk)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour

Directions:

 Gingerbread Muffins

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners or lightly grease with butter or non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the banana together with the egg until completely combined. Stir in the vanilla, orange zest, spices and salt.
  3. Begin adding ingredients one by one, stirring until combined between each addition. First the chia seeds, oil, molasses and milk to the bowl (stirring to combine), then granulated and dark brown sugar (stirring to combine), followed by the baking powder and baking soda (stirring to combine). Fold in the flour until just mixed.
  4. Divide the batter evenly between the muffin cups, about 3/4 full.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees F. Reduce the oven temperature down to 375 degrees F, turn the muffin pan around, and bake for an additional 7-9 minutes until the muffin tops are set and a cake tester inserted into the center of the muffins comes out clean. Let cool in the muffin tins for 5 minutes, then transfer to a baking rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Mamma Chia Pumpkin Oats with Sautéed Apples

Loaded oats bowls are quickly becoming a fall season favorite and we couldn’t agree more! There’s no better way to kickstart a crisp, autumn day than with a warm oatmeal bowl in the morning, loaded with tantalizingly seasonal toppings! One of our favorite recipe mavens, Carolyn from @copinaco, created this pumpkin and apple masterpiece using Mamma Chia Organic Chia Squeeze and Organic Chia Granola Clusters. It’s quick, easy and simply delicious!

 

RECIPE:

OATS

1/2 rolled cup oats

1 tablespoon Mamma Chia organic Chia Seeds

1/2 cup pumpkin purée (canned or steamed, then puréed)

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup almond milk

1/2 tsp vanilla extract or powder

1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

1/4- 1/2 tsp turmeric (depending on your taste)

1 medjool date, chopped (for extra sweetness)

A dash of cinnamon

 

APPLES

1 apple, diced

1/2 tsp coconut oil

1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice

 

EXTRA TOPPINGS

– Mamma Chia organic Chia Squeeze (flavor of your choice)

– Dash of Mamma Chia organic Granola Clusters

– Shredded Coconut

 

DIRECTIONS:

To cook the apples, heat the coconut oil over medium for about 1 minute before adding the diced apple. Add the pumpkin pie spice and sauté for about 3-5 minutes over medium-low, stirring occasionally until the apples begin to soften.

To cook the oats, stir all ingredients together and cook over medium on the stove for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat, then add your toppings.

It’s the perfect time of the year for warm and cozy culinary creations and you’ll totally want to cozy up to this tasty apple-spiced loaded oats bowl! Blackberry Bliss Oatmeal bowl

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of rolled or quick oats, cooked in almond milk
  • 1 Mamma Chia Blackberry Bliss Organic Chia Squeeze
  • 1 large chopped apple
  • 1 tsp coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp pumpkin spice or cinnamon
  • Mixed berries of choice (we used organic blackberries and strawberries)
  • 1 tbsp pistachios
  • 1/4 cup Mamma Chia Vanilla Almond Chia Granola Clusters
  • 1 tbsp almond butter (or nut butter of choice)
  • 1 tbsp bee pollen

Directions:

  1. Prepare your oatmeal: Combine oats and almond milk in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Simmer uncovered for 3 to 5 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and place into a medium bowl.
  2. Create the “baked apples” by combining one large chopped apple with 1/2 tsp of pumpkin spice (or cinnamon) and 1 tsp of coconut sugar in a small bowl until the apples are covered
  3. Microwave the chopped apple for 45 seconds and add to your oatmeal bowl
  4. Squeeze your Blackberry Bliss Chia Squeeze over your oats
  5. Drizzle 1 tbsp of almond butter over the top
  6. Add Vanilla Almond Organic Chia Granola Clusters, mixed berries, pistachios, and bee pollen
  7. Enjoy!

We’re creepin’ it real this Halloween season with these SPOOKtacular healthy and fun Halloween chia treats that are scary good! Not to mention, these devilishly delightful chia treats make for a BOOtiful display at your big Halloween Monster Bash!

Frankenstein Chia Pudding

This delicious and colorful chia pudding will keep your guests screaming with delight all through the dark night!

Ingredients:

2/3 cup of Chia Seeds

3 cups of Chocolate Almond Milk

2 tsp Vanilla Extract

1 tsp organic Cinnamon

3 tbsp organic Agave or Honey

3 tbsp Green Matcha Powder

1 case of Fresh Blueberries

Directions: Blend all the ingredients together and refrigerate for at least 3 hours. Pour into a cup of your choice (use a clear glass to draw on your Frankenstein face for the ultimate treat) and top with fresh blueberries!

Chocolate Graveyard Chia Pudding

More like a Chia & Chocolate FLAVE-yard! These pudding cups are one of our most frightful favorites! Make your cups even spookier with a tombstone topping! 😉

Ingredients:

2/3 cup of Chia Seeds

3 cups of Almond Milk

2 tsp Vanilla Extract

1 tsp organic Cinnamon

3 tbsp organic Agave or Honey

3 tbsp Green Matcha Powder (for color)

1 bag of cookies

1 bag of Milano’s (To use as the tombstones)

Directions: Blend all the ingredients together in a mixing bowl and refrigerate for at least 3 hours. Pour half of the chia seed pudding into a cup of your choice then layer with crumbled cookies and add your last layer of Chia Seed Pudding on top! Then sprinkle the rest of the crumbles to bury your yummy chia pudding and mark the grave with an RIP Milano cookie tombstone!

Chia Pumpkin Muffins

No need to seek out this fall favorite from your local coffee shop – we’ve put together this sinfully easy and nutritious Chia Pumpkin Muffin recipe to make your mornings extra yummy and seasonably on-brand! These deliciously-soft and ultra-flavorful Chia Pumpkin Muffins are the absolute perfect way to start each autumn day. Best of all, clean up is a breeze! It’s time to embrace the fall and get to baking!

Ingredients:

1 tbsp Mamma Chia Organic Chia Seeds

1 1/2 cup white flour

2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 can organic Pumpkin Puree

2 eggs

1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

1/2 cup agave nectar

1 tbsp vanilla

1/2 cup walnuts (optional)

 

Directions:

 Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl. In a separate bowl, mix all the wet ingredients. Transfer the wet ingredients into the dry bowl ingredients and mix together! Add in walnuts (optional) if you like and continue mixing. Spoon into muffin tins (either with paper muffin liners or greased) and bake for 25 minutes! Remove from heat and then ENJOY the fall flavors!

  2. Form the mixture into 1-inch balls, pressing the mixture together in the palm of your hand. Repeat until all the oat mixture is rolled into balls. Freeze for at least 20 minutes or overnight. Pack and enjoy!

Ingredients:
2 cups almond milk

Mamma Chia Cupcakes

Did someone say cupcakes??  What about these sweet, crunchy and healthy chia chocolate and peanut butter cupcakes!! These delicious little beauties are perfect to whip up and take to your next party or simply enjoy for yourself, because at the end of a long day, a sweet treat with Mamma Chia is ALWAYS a good idea! Ingredients:

Cupcakes

1 cup spelt flour

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup coconut sugar

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

3/4 cup almond milk

2 tbsp sunflower oil

1 tbsp applesauce

1/2 Mamma Chia Wild Raspberry Chia Squeeze

1 tbsp NuttZo Peanut Pro

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

 

Frosting

1/4 cup dark chocolate chips

1/2 cup Nuttzo Peanut Pro

Directions:

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.

National Chia Day 2018

The most MAGICAL day of the year is almost here — National Chia Day! In 2016, Mamma Chia officially designated March 23rd as National Chia Day with the registrar of National Day Calendar! Now observed for its third year, this day recognizes the tiny, yet powerful chia seed that has earned its reputation as being one of the MOST nutrient-rich foods on the planet! Revered by the Maya and Aztecs for their amazing healing powers and natural energy, chia seeds have become a trusted staple for people around the world and can be enjoyed in many foods and beverages!

March 23rd is an extra magical date – not only is it National Chia Day, but it also wonderfully marks National Puppy Day! We at Mamma Chia couldn’t think of a more perfect way to mark the dual occasion than by partnering with our friends and neighbors at Rancho Coastal Humane Society! We are excited to announce the first ever Mamma Chia Pet Adoption Week presented by Rancho Coastal Humane Society, that will begin on March 23rd and last through the end of the month!

We will be donating $100 worth of chia beverages and snacks to every delightful family and soul who adopts a pet from RCHS over the week!

Mamma Chia will be also on site at RCHS on National Chia Day spreading the Mamma Chia Magic to our community and hopeful adopters, as well as treating all fur friends to some freshly baked chia dog treats!

Chia Dog Treat Recipe:

PEANUT BUTTER & PUMPKIN DOG TREATS

Prep time:  10 mins

Cook time:  30 mins

Total time:  40 mins

*Note: Make sure the Peanut Butter is xylitol free as xylitol is toxic to dogs!*

Your dog will love this super easy recipe for chia doggie treats.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 cup of creamy peanut butter (Unsalted & xylitol free)
  • 1 cup of pumpkin puree
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 T chia seeds
  • 3 cups of whole wheat flour

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a stand mixer, combine the peanut butter and pumpkin puree. Scrape down bowl sides.
  2. Add eggs and beat.
  3. Add chia seeds and 2 1/2 cups of flour. Mix until combined. Add remaining flour by 1Ž4 cups until the mixture is good for rolling out (forms a nice ball that is not too sticky and doesn’t crumble apart).
  4. Roll dough out to 1/4 inch thick, cut with cookie cutter of choice.
  5. Bake in 350-degree oven for 20-30 minutes until slightly browned and as crispy as you (or your pup) like.

The goal was and continues to be to care for the homeless animal population of San Diego County and to educate the public about pet overpopulation and responsible companion animal care. In the nearly 58 years since its inception, RCHS has grown from a small facility run by volunteers to a professionally managed humane society that provides quality shelter care, adoption services, education programs and an animal safehouse program for the survivors of domestic violence.

One of RCHS’ main goals is the adoption of animals to permanent, loving homes. After finding the perfect match, RCHS helps prospective adopters learn about health care, nutrition requirements, grooming, exercise, responsible pet ownership, socialization and the importance of the human/animal bond.

  • 15oz Organic Canned Pumpkin Pie Puree
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon Round Cloves
  • 2 Cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2 Large Eggs

Directions:

CRUST
Every Pumpkin pie starts with a fabulous pie crust!
1 1/2 cups finely ground Mamma Chia Vanilla Almond Granola Clusters
6 tablespoons melted butter
1/3 cup sugar

Take 1 1/2 cups of Mamma Chia Vanilla Almond Granola Clusters and ground in food processor until it is as fine as possible.

Mix the sugar and melted butter until all is combined evenly and press into a 9-inch pie plate.

Bake in oven at 375 degrees for 7 minutes. Take out and set aside to cool.

PUMPKIN PIE FILLING
3/4 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 large eggs
1 can organic pumpkin pie puree
1 12-oz can of evaporated milk

Reduce your oven temperature from 375 degrees to 350 degrees.
In a small bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger, and cloves. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat 2 large eggs. Then, stir in the pumpkin puree, followed by the sugar and spice mixture from the small bowl.
Gradually add in the evaporated milk while mixing and mix well until all is combined evenly.
Pour pumpkin pie mixture into previously made pie shell.

Bake pie at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes until a knife can be inserted and come out clean. Let cool and serve room temperature or slightly warm. Add to your Instagram story and enjoy your homemade Mamma Chia Pumpkin Pie!
